The annual Pipe Challenge Bodyboarding contest runs from 19 Feb to 1 March. This year marks the event’s 30 year anniversary. There’s been a bit of a buzz about it on the social networks… so I figured I’d also weigh in with something.
Above is a photo of two mates & myself (the guy next to Mike Stewart is me) and Mike Stewart; moments before paddling out at what would be Mike’s first, and to my knowledge only, surf at the legendary Supertubes in Jeffreys Bay. I was reminded of this photo when I read an article about the Annual Pipeline contest and figured this would be a fitting way for me to celebrate the occassion. In fact, considering how much Mike has travelled and how many bodyboarding clinics etc. he must have done over the length of his career all over the World, there must be tons of photos of guys posing with him.
Thought it would be a neat idea to get a ‘movement’ going posting your “when I met Mike” pics…
